What Are Some of the Best Materials for Window Blinds?

When it comes to finding the right window blinds for your space, the blind material can make all the difference. The material of your window blinds will impact the feel and atmosphere of the room, not just the look of the blinds themselves.

There’s a variety of materials for dining room, living room, and family room blinds that can really help shape the feel of the room. Below, you’ll find a quick rundown of some of the best materials for your blinds.

Wood Blinds

Wood is a classic aesthetic for blinds that can fit almost any room, depending on wall and accent colours. Wood is also naturally durable and strong, as well as easy to maintain and clean.

The downside of wood is that it’s typically more expensive than other options. What’s more, if they’re placed in a humid area, they may warp over time.

Other than those few drawbacks, however, wooden blinds are a great choice to go along with most rooms.

Faux Wood Blinds

An alternative to wood blinds for those who want the look of wood without the price (or the aversion to humidity) is faux wood blinds.

As the name implies, this type of blind isn’t the real deal, but still gives that air of sophistication and elegance that only wood can provide. To the naked eye, you might not even be able to tell that these blinds are made from composite wood or a PVC/vinyl material.

One drawback is that if you look closely, you won’t see the natural grain patterns that real wood would have. And you’ll also lose out on the durability of real wood.

Vinyl Blinds

Vinyl is a synthetic polymer material (think similar to hard plastic), so it’s very survivable. It’ll last in any environment and is exceptionally durable, flexible, and easy to clean. Vinyl also comes in a variety of colours and designs.

Some customers don’t like that plastic feel, however. But if that doesn’t bother you, then vinyl blinds are a perfect fit for most rooms!

Metal Blinds

Metal blinds are perfect for modern spaces. They’re sleek and stylish and can work in all sorts of environments, from offices to more contemporary and modern-aesthetic homes.

Typically, those who dislike metal blinds find them to be cold or inorganic. But for those who don’t have those reservations, metal blinds offer a strong and durable option.
